Five Ways to Stay Purposeful during Quarantine

It has been nearly two months since Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered all of California residents to stay home. This “social distancing” phase has impacted almost 40 million Californians’ livelihood. Unfortunately, we don’t know how long it will last, but here are some tips that you can implement to thrive and stay purposeful during quarantine time.

Exercise regularly

When you exercise up to five days per week up for one hour, you will have boost up immune function and brainpower, reduced anxiety/stress, improved sleep and mood, weight loss, stronger muscles, and bones, according to WebMD. Maybe you might want to set a personal goal or start a family workout tradition?

Eat immune-boosting food

Our body is a direct result of what we eat, so it’s more than ever, critical to putting power-packed immunity food into our bodies to stay healthy. Deep Sleep

You might think it’s just sleeping and may want to skip a few hours without paying that much attention, but the benefits of proper sleep are far more complex and essential to stay healthy. According to healthline.com, people with poor sleep will tend to gain weight more than those who have a more extended rest. Good night sleep enhances immune function, productivity, concentration, and athletic performance. Lack of sleep affects blood sugar and reduces insulin sensitivity and causes type 2 diabetes and also leads to depression.

Think Others as much as yourself

We live in such a “Big me” world, and many people continuously invest their energy to look for their next big things. According to Dr. Samantha Boardman, a psychiatrist, too much emphasis on the self can lead us astray. Research shows that the happiest people have close ties to friends and family and also show people who connect with other human beings, even strangers on a train, brightens their moods. It might be a perfect time for us to start shifting our focus on the need of others and show them we care during this pandemic.
